Hey Sweeties,

I've been missing in action for a good few weeks, certain events in RL have kept me occupied and I haven't even logged in to SL for about a month. As usual, I feel totally overwhelmed by the amount of awesome new stuff that has appeared in my absence. I did a mammoth shop the other day and now I'm wondering how on earth I'm going to find time to photograph all my new goodies. My backlog gets bigger and bigger.....

The first thing I wanted to show you are these awesome Noor sets from Tartessos Arts - a living room and a bedroom set. As with all TA stuff, these sets come with lots of cute little decorative items and are packed full of awesome animations. They are materials ready and many items are texture change. I'm really liking the Persian theme and had a lot of fun making the photo set. I spent a bit of time trying to find a suitable dress to wear but in the end I figured I could just smoke my hookah in my undies (cough, choke). 

I'm wearing the mesh body from The Mesh Project and I have to say, I'm loving it, perhaps even more than my Wowmeh. I did absolutely no editing on the body or head on these pics, apart from adding a couple of shadows - I didn't have to liquify anything, the shape is just perfect. I really hope (though I doubt) that they'll introduce the ability to have alpha layers for the body so that we can wear our mesh clothes from other stores. I don't doubt that The Shops Boutique, when it is fully up and running, will have some beautiful clothes but it will still be limiting if we can only wear their brand with these mesh bodies - not to mention I do find The Shops items very expensive. Still, for lingerie or nude use, these bodies are just amazing - and free!!

Home and garden (Autumn)

Hi Sweeties,

I wanted to get this post in quickly as it's all about Autumn - which is, like, totally over. I did actually start making over my home back in mid October, that's how long it's taken me, RL being a bit hectic lately! I had planned to just stay all colourful and autumny right through til spring but now I really want to decorate for Christmas and it doesn't seem right to have a tree up in the middle of autumn. Silly, as it's SL and we can do whatever we like right, but still, I feel a nerdy need to do things properly. I always have to have a kitchen and bathroom in my SL home - even just a small one - or it feels weird. I've discarded otherwise beautiful builds simply because I wouldn't have room for a sitting room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/diner. Yep, I'm a freak! 

A major shopping spree at The Arcade has totally changed my mind about decorating for Christmas after all. There is just so much cute winter decor! This will obviously involve re-landscaping but thankfully I have Studio Skye's awesome 'four seasons' trees and landscaping decor set up so with a simple click I'll be able to jump straight into winter. I'll only have to pull up a couple of trees and some grasses and job done. That said, I'd personally really like if there were two winter options - one with snow and one just bare trees. Do I really want snow right through til spring? Other than that, I just can't gush enough about Alex Bader's creations. They really do take the pain out of landscaping and it certainly means that even someone like me, living in a sky platform, with a 'prim' limit of 1054 can get a really detailed, finished garden, something that was just not possible before mesh and the awesomeness of some of SL's finest creators. 

I'm totally in love with this build from Scarlet Creative - just beautiful. The detail is amazing. It's been said by plenty of other people but, yeah, I'm really liking this new direction. In order to have enough space for all my room needs I plonked her Autumn reclaim store on to the end of the house. I think it works. I've kept the decor relatively simple, slightly rustic, just a touch industrial. I'm always tempted to have lots of cute girly decor about (I had to really resist using all the craft supplies by SS from the last Arcade) but I wanted to keep to a neutral, autumnal palette. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I've seen some breathtaking shots of this build and some achingly cool interior design but, within my 'prim' limit, I think I've managed to decorate to my own personal satisfaction. All the photos are of my 'real' home, not just staged shots and, of course, I always wish I could have just a touch more clutter (I really felt the urge to chuck lots of boots and wellies about!!?) but that would have meant compromising elsewhere - like my landscaping. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics xxxx

Do not disturb....

Hey peeps,

Oo, what is naughty Ophelia up to, hanging around in a hotel room in her smalls? Is she having a assignation with her lover, is she meeting up with her man after a long business trip? Perhaps she's just really pleased with her tidy hemline* and feels it deserves a regular airing. I'll leave that up to your imagination...

I'd like to show you a couple of cool things, firstly the decor. This is the Avenue Set by Tartessos Arts. Like everything from the talented Nico Griffith, the set is beautifully made with lots of meshy goodness and a nice, healthy low land impact. Many of the items are texture changeable and, with a bedroom and living room set, can be mixed and matched to compliment any room. This is a sleek, modern set  with just a hint of retro and I thought it would look well with my upmarket hotel suite vibe. Tartessos Arts is a store I've shopped at for a while now and I find it particularly great if you're looking for low LI, affordable home decor fillers like phones, bins, kitchen bits n bats, clocks, TV's and other paraphernalia  If you haven't looked in before, I heartily recommend a visit. Oo, and Nico is the sweetest guy...

I'd also like to point out my awesome body. I'm looking pretty hot, right? This is the Wowmeh mesh body by Bit McMillan available on Marketplace. It comes without a head, so you wear your own and the whole shape, except the boobs, are fairly moddable so you can tweak the shape to your liking. The best bit? It's only L$150, which in my book is pretty cheap for a mesh body. I only stumbled across it by chance on MP when I got it into my head that I wanted to try a mesh avatar. With all the drawbacks to everyday wearing of a mesh avi (clothing, tattoo layers etc) I didn't want to spend a lot of Lindens on one so this seemed perfect. I particularly love the stomach, hips, thigh area - I think it's giving me a realistic, slender, sexy shape that can be hard to achieve with the regular SL body. It's particularly useful for photography, I guess, even if I'm not going to be wearing it for everyday use. The only negatives are that the hands and feet are a bit squiffy and the arms can get a bit deformed in certain poses. The skin texture isn't bad (though the boobs could be improved) and there are a number of skin shades and options available via a HUD along with a body alpha option to hide certain areas of the body to enable the wearing of mesh clothes. In all, I think this is a super cute mesh body for the price and a nice prop for photos.

Home and garden (summer)

Hi sweeties,

Well, I wanted to get a quick home and garden post in before I bulldoze my summer home and get set up for Autumn. But I have to apologise for the quality of the pics, the textures are a bit blurred in some of them. I've been having a whole world of weirdness with my PC recently. I use Firestorm viewer which, up until lately, I've been really happy with. I love the interface, the settings and extras and, best of all, practically zero crashing. So, I did the 'mandatory' viewer update the other day and now, not so good. My textures are blurring and refusing to rez and worst of all, I'm having EPIC crashes when I'm taking snapshots. I generally take huge snapshots, around 5000 x 3500, with settings on ultra, shadows enabled and quality on outstanding. Ok, so this slows my PC down to snails pace but I get my snapshots with only the odd crash if I'm on a busy sim. Since I updated to the new viewer I've been crashing practically every time I hit the snapshot button. I've found the only way I can take pics, on ultra with shadows, is to lower shadow quality and draw distance and take smaller snapshots. I'm really hoping a 'fixed' update comes out soon as I'm fairly certain the viewer is to blame. I actually went to all the fun of re-installing the previous viewer just to check that it wasn't something odd with my PC - snapshots worked fine on ultra with all the bells and whistles. I had to install the latest viewer, though, due to the new server side baking and all that. If anyone else is having these issues and has found a solution, I'd love to hear it! The only positive I will say is that the latest viewer has done away with those pesky lines, yay!

Anyway, needless to say taking these pics was a total nightmare and in the end I just had to run with the best I could manage, hence the blurred textures. It's a shame as I really wanted to capture the detail on some of the awesome stuff those amazing creators have been making for us. I've really enjoyed building and living in this space. I live in a skybox, and I enjoyed the challenge of building a beach scene up in the sky. I modded one of Turnip's lovely skybox terrains and plonked down Lindini2 Lane's awesome shoreline house - I'm lovin her new mesh builds. Studio Skye's building kits are always amazing and realistic, and so easy to work with, so making a sky beach was totally do-able. I have a prim (land impact) limit of 1054, not a small amount but I always struggle to realise my building ambitions within that number. Obviously, things have got so much better since the introduction of mesh and all the amazing (and low LI) stuff that is available. Still, I never quite feel I have enough 'prims' to do exactly as I'd like. But I guess that makes decorating fun and challenging, eh? Anyhoo, I'll stop waffling now and get on with the pics.
